Deadlines

Participants are encouraged to apply early to obtain the best housing options, preferred course selections, and any required documents for a visa. The deadlines are generally 60 days prior to one-month sessions and three months prior to programs lasting a quarter, semester, or more than 90 days. A late handling fee of $100 is applied for any applications submitted less than 60 days for a semester program and 30 days for summer, monthly or weekly sessions to cover expedited handling costs.

Payments

The payment schedule is $300 upon enrollment that generally goes toward the cost of the program. For the balance, half should be paid at acceptance in the program and the remaining half, 90 days (for semester) and 60 days (summer/month) prior to the beginning of selected program. Payment schedule may be adjusted for students who are receiving grants or financial aid.

Excluded costs are food (unless specifically indicated otherwise) and airfare. Participants may prepare meals in their own apartment, dine at the student cafeteria, or find restaurants near the school.. Applicants will receive information on airlines offering low fares that will help participants in making their flight arrangements. Students can be met at the airport for a fee.

Cancellations and Refunds

Registration fees and tuition for European schools once paid or guaranteed to be paid are not refundable. The cancellation policy applies at any time before and after the beginning of the program, as well as during the course of the program. Cancellation and refund request must be submitted in writing to the European Heritage Institute. The date the letter of cancellation is received will be considered the cancellation date.

Cancellation received 90 days (for 3-month programs or longer) or 60 days (programs less than three months) before the beginning of the selected program will have a full refund less $150 fee and all registration fees paid to European institutions. If less than 90 days (programs 3 months or longer) or 60 days (programs less than 3 months) prior to the beginning of the selected program, all recoverable costs less $150 fee and all registration fees paid to European institutions; within 30 days before the beginning of the selected program, no refund is available.

Visas

A visa is essential for more than a three months stay in all European countries and, for some countries, it is required even for 30 days. Citizens of the United States and Canadian citizens may not need a student visa for less than 90 days, but those of other countries need to inquire about visa requirements. Guidance and required documents related to the study program will be provided to applicants. Requirements vary over time.
