Setting

schiara.jpg (12069 bytes)sruffi.jpg (11643 bytes)Clinging to a hillside beneath dark Mount Subasio, Assisi is an enchanting hill town located in the Umbria Region. The city is of extraordinary beauty, with its medieval houses and streets of high pink and white sandstone and flowers spilling from windows, balconies and old staircases. Umbria and Assisi in particular offer an important legacy of medieval art, culture, religion and folklore, as well as remains of Etruscan and Roman civilization.

The Accademia Lingua Italiana is a private institution that is officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education and serves as a University Center of CILS Exams (Italian language proficiency). It is located in one of Assisi's historic buildings in the center. The Accademia organizes courses of Italian language and culture for foreigners. The institute offers courses all year round; lessons take place from Monday to Friday. Each class has a maximum number of 15 students.

The small size of the school and its almost family-setting makes it an ideal school for students who are at the beginning level or wish to study in a small, intimate setting that provides abundant opportunities to practice Italian. The student body is international.

The Academy uses a communicative-situational approach which, in a short time, enables students to speak fluent Italian. The teachers have a university background, may years of professional experience in the field of teaching Italian to foreigners and make use of modern and tested multimedia materials.

Assisi is the place to retrace the steps of the medieval period and the journeys and life of St. Francis. This is the city where multitudes of pilgrims and tourists make their way from distant places drawn by Assisi's spiritual and cultural legacy. The Basilica of St. Francis remains a great treasure of early Italian painters, from Cimabue to Giotto. Assisi is a beautiful medieval city in the Umbrian Region that is rich in art treasures going back to Etruscan times. The city is mid-way between Rome and Florence. Green valleys surround the area and other famous medieval towns such as Perugia, Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto (the city of the Festival of the Two Worlds) and others.
